student house
intervention proposal in The Hague's downtown (NL), in view of the loneliness in the public space.

The idea of loneliness in the public space is not that much discussed since it is a delicate theme and also hard to approach.
Nevertheless, this work intended to embrace it in the way it could be at least understood and somehow solved. Since we got in our minds that loneliness is mostly caused by the feeling of inadequacy to the society's requirements when it imposes us to fit in some standards, this intervention assumes that the differences can cross to each others establishing common points which can grow as groups that share the same differences. When I proposed one space like this, I intended to create some kind of community that could attract and develop the differences of people who sometimes feel very weird in the society.
The created space is embraced by a metal ribbon which delimites the space of the community and yet respect the existing flows what allows the passersby feel invited to participate of this community. Since there is the Leiden University next to it, it is proposed that the whole space could be managed and lead by its students in order to promote the place as a space to share, meet and stimulate the differences by talks, lectures, courses, parties, fairs, exhibitions, etc., making the whole community culturally richer.
Besides it, there was design 4 kinds of furnitures for this space; one stool, one puff, one fireplace-plant vase and one lamp; which could me grouped and organised in distinct ways to change the program of the space and make it more flexible. To finally complement the program of this community there is a coffee and a auditorium, both of them can be closed without interfering the dynamic of the space.
